KZ650 B - something wrong with the petcock?

Hi,
I'm trying to rebuild a '78 KZ650 and I need some help with the petcock. Simply don't know whether this thing is broken or whether this is supposed to be like that. Looks like there is an o-ring missing, but I still can't imagine that this is not leaking...

All the above work great but R4 turned me on to this. I tapped (1/8" pipe thread I believe) out petcock and installed a 1/4" elbow. Installed with yellow (fuel resistant) teflon tape and has worked great for past 3-4 years.
1980 KZ650F1, Bought new out the door for $2,162.98!

This is the bike. A lot of work, but that's why I bought it. Think I'll need your help again in the next couple of months.
Not sure what I'm going to do with it. I plan to put it on the road first and then modify it.

Petcock is the same way on my '78 B2A. It doesnt leak but it worried me how loose it is. I'm glad other people had the same issue. I'm new here, but welcome all the same.
