I don't know much about them - no first hand experience.
According to a KZ650 site, the models with those carbs have about 5 hp more
than the 81 CSR w VM24s.
If they're clean, properly tuned & have good rubber vacuum diaphragms etc,
then I'd guess they'd be fine.
On some bikes replacement diaphragms are hard to find, though.

I can't tell from the photo, but my '82 KZ650 CSR has BS32 carburetors. They run very well. The torque curve smoothly increases as RPMs increase, and the top end performance is outstanding. Idle is very good. Pulling away from a stop is very smooth and without any hesitation. I did change the pilot jets from 37.5 to 40.0, and use a stock air box and main jets.

My only complaint is the choke or idle enrichment system. When the bike is cold, with temperatures down to about 45 degrees F., I pull the choke out to the first notch. The motor starts right up, but very soon the RPM raises to about 2,500. Now if you push the choke in, even just a little, then the RPM drops, but the mixture goes very lean and the engine dies. There seems to be no modulating of the choke - it is either ON or OFF.

Overall, I am pleased with these carbs. As JMKZHI said, the rating on the '82 and '83 650s is 5 HP higher than the '81, and the carb seems to be the major difference.
