newbie carb question, what are these?

there are 2 open tubes on the inner line of the 2 outer carbs what are they and what should they connect to? it was like this when i bought it.

A vacuum line I believe. It doesn't attach to anything .

anyone know what they should connect to? ive looked and looked and there are no other open lines or disconnected spots.

Is that the airbox side of the #4 carb?
If so, then those are the vents & should remain open to the atmosphere. On my 81 650 the vent tubing is routed over the airbox shoulders, then fitted snugly between the airbox & side covers.

1978 kz650b pretty much stock
