Pet cock problem

OKAY... here we go again... lots of learning experiences for me...

I bought a rebuild kit for my pet cock because it appears to be leaking... replaced everything piece for piece and put it back together and now it lets gas out through the gas nozzle no matter what it's set on.

AND... I've noticed the nozzle itself has a sealant component to it that can't be replaced and is partially missing. Hooked it back up to the tank and the bike to check, and around the nozzle gets moist so my powers of deduction are suggesting that the leak is coming from the nozzle with the missing sealant component that I can't replace.

Oh and by the way, when you put the o-ring on the lever, don't take the lever back out... the o-ring won't fit in again.

Suggestions?

silicone gasket for the nozzle?
New petcock rebuild kit for the 0-ring I jacked up?
New petcock, period?

And why the heck is it flowing gas when on off?

I'm going to try to upload pics after I got take them.

Well if it's a gravity petcock and not a vacuum petcock I'd say you have the inside drum 180 degrees out. But if a non replaceable part is missing or broken I'd stop messing and get a new petcock. Ones can be had pretty cheap or you can get a Pingle that is as much bling as it is reliable. It's also not cheap.
