kz 1000 surging

1908 kz 1000b4. Over the winter I installed emgo pods and a V&H 4into1 megaphone pipe. 125 main jets, 17.5 pilots. 28mm mikunis.I also had to tape up some of the pods and now I finally have all 4 plugs nice and tan. The problem is it has a bad surge out on the road at about 55 mph to 60 mph. Anyone else ever had this happen and been able to fix it? Any help very appreciated.

I have had this problem with mikunis and emgo pods the best i can figure is that the rubber ring around the pods restricts air flow to the port that raises the needle valve i do not have this problem with k&n or universal foam the fact that you need to tape the pods means your still lean but i would only adress one issue at a time start with those pods if its an option put the air box back on and get the carbs set right for the pipes and then if you insist experiment with the pods

if it does it in cross winds that is the air being sucked or blown away from pod filters ,one of the advantages of stock airbox. :(

for what its worth, i have had two sets of emgo s and had problems twice.....as expensive as k and n s are, you dont run into the problems with them that you do with emgos...last weekend i did two round trips over the newport bridge..water is still cold and temps drop 20 degrees up there and crosswinds have you struggle to stay in your lane...never one fart or hiccup with the k and n s .....just my .02......keith

I'm using the K and N pods,and don't have any issues.
However,when I was running the 26mm carbs,if I pushed my knees out away from the bike,into the wind,the bike would surge...since I put the 29's on...no problems at all.B)
