worn throttle shaft - kz 400

what can be done to remedy worn throttle shafts and the bores that the shaft rides in? i think i could re-plate the shaft, however, is there a way to re-bush the bores? i am experienceing internal vacuum leaks resulting from the air leaking around the butterflies and around the worn throttle shaft to bore areas as well as some vacuum leakage from where the shafts stick out the shide of the carbs.

these are the carbs found on a '76 kz 400 d3 model with the keihin piston cabs (non-diaphragm).

thanks,

paul k

I am sure that it could be done, but it might be expensive. May be easier to look for some good, used carburetors. Also, you may have vacuum leaks at the rubber mounting holders on the engine side of you carburetors. If yours are original, look for cracking. That could be your problem.

If you really want to keep the carbs, I'd try the industrial bushing suppliers for Metric bushings and then find a machine shop to do the work for you.

thanks robert, however vacuum leaks around the rubbers aren't the problem this time. the throttle shaft has noticeable play in it and a resulting change in rpm when moved.

thanks for the bushing link MFolks.
