i could be wrong, but the extra ribbing going horizontally on carb bodies is from an older style...???

will sound silly, check fuel line routing.any kinks in line which may become restrictions once lines heat could cause starvation. routing lines w/ external filters is a pita. easy check. luck G

Could be partial fuel starvation. Would remove and clean petcock, especially screens on intakes. And also remove tank and flush it out with fresh gas.
Thinking grit and crud inside tank suspended in fuel and hovering around and collecting on petcock pick-up screens.
Good Luck!

thats a thought, but this is freshly reassembled after a restoration. The tank is spotless, the petcock is brand new and the carbs are clean, fuel lines and inline filter are brand new.
If it was starvation I would think it would cut out while going 70 down the freeway, but it runs fine and has great power.
for now, 2 things I am trying - 1. is the "stuck advancer" theory (its all cleaned up and lubed) and 2. too lean on the pilot circuit. ( I will close my pilot air screws about 1/2 turn and see if it helps)

This may sound dumb, but how old is the battery? My bike experiences symptoms very similar to yours when the battery gets near the end of its life. When I replace the battery the problems disappear. Ed
