will not idle without choke!!!!!

my kz750 twin will not idle with out the choke, the gas is new the carbs rebuilt and the air 2 fuel screws are 1&1/2 turns open. what can I do

Are the carbs jetted right for any intake/exhaust mods? Do you have a leak on either of the carb holders?

sounds like the idle jets are partly blocked or too small.

im not a mechanic im a carpenter!

every thing is stock no mods and the boots and rubber is in great shape. however the air filter is removed but i didnt think it woulsd make much difference. I belive it was still doing it with the air filter in.
