O.K. I am new to the whole asking for help thing. There is probably an answer some where but I am not sure. I had a hard time getting my csr 1000 started this season so I checked the float bowls and found gunk.

So I went for a rebuild kit K&L and did a good clean and replaced jets, checked float level within 3-4 mm :)
O.K hear is the problem started right up and ran @ 5500 rpm's :( shut the choke off and died. checked all settings again and everything is right. What to do??

Sorry the main jets are 127.5, pilot 37.5 and the screws are 1-1/4 turns out.

when i can get the bike to idle i have to flutter the throttle to keep it running. Lots of popping.

Again I just couldn't find the ans. in another post.

the compression is good and no vac. leaks.

I hope I gave enough info if not let me know :S

so you are sure there are no leaks? did you spray wd 40 on the intake boots to see if it changed the rpm? im no carb expert, but wiredgeorge should be around soon;) he has a website that could be very helpful to you as well.

Yes I'm sure I sprayed wd-40 on all possible leak points no change. Boots are new about 2 Years old. will replace all vent lines to be sure. Oh there are K&N pods on and factory exhaust.

It does sound like an air leak to me as well. WD-40 will not always find the leak. It is better to use something a little stronger. Starting fluid is best but it can harm the paint. I like to use a MAP gas bottle. Just turn the gas on without lighting the tourch and wvae it around all the spots where a leak could happen. Gas will find leaks that fluid can not get into such as under side of the boots. Do you have the airbox on? If you have the take the carbs off again I would leave the airbox off until you gets the carbs dialed in right. It makes it much easier to gets the carbs on and off. Without the airbox you can get the carbs off in about 30 sec, they just pop right off. Good lcuk and let us know what you find out.

Worked late tonight. Hopefully will get to the carbs in the next day or two.. 127.5 for the main is two sizes over stock. Isn't that good for pod filters.

Hi, KWAS.

I have a 1981 KZ1000M1 CSR with pods and a 4/1 Supertrapp. When I bought the bike a month ago, it had 130 mains and 37.5 pilot jets. The bike is still running lean, and I was advised by WiredGeorge to try 140 main jets and 40 pilot jets.

I have made the decision to switch back to stock air and bought an air box and associated parts simply because I don't care for pods due to the variables they cause and the increased fuel consumption with having to go with much larger jets. I'll just put up with the pain getting the carbs off and on with air box.

I believe stock mains are 122.5. The sizes then go to 125, then to 127.5, so yes, your jets are two sizes up. However, with my bike and setup, 130's were still not enough. Hope this helps...
