I found a guy on another site that has a 04 zx10 motor with all the stuff with 2200 miles on it. He wants $1200 for it. I'm thinking about putting it in a kz frame. I'll have to check out the mounting spots and see if a frame can be modified safely enough but it would be a killer sleeper!

if i rememberright the zx-10 had the same oiling issues as its big brother the zx-11 so make sure to check into that and youll also need to mount a radiator somehow to cool it. ;) goodluck, happy wrenching!

if you want to run the stock zx air box you may have problems. the box would want to be where the kz frame (backbone) is. im sure there are ways around it, pods on the throttle bodies would probably work, but then you might need a power commander. an easier swap would probably be a zrx motor, they use the same carb positioning as a kz and dont have the airbox over the motor. good luck with what you choose to build
(ps, I saw a muzzy turbo kit for the zx10 that gives you 500HP:evil:    )

The 04 ZX10R is nothing like the late 80s/early 90s ZX10 so oiling should not be a problem. Of course, anything can be fixed - Joe Amo's 1988 ZX10 has run 246mph!

I was thinking about getting a bare frame and cutting it up if I have to to get the motor in. Hmmm...

On the subject of motorswaps, have you seen the "Kawabusa"? It's either an unholy alliance of the type that should never be made on this earth, or just about the coolest thing ever. I can never decide!

I saw the thing at Road Atlanta this year just being ridden around - and walked past it twice before I noticed the tank badging. It's as clean in person as you might expect.

I actually saw an ebay auction quite awhile back for a ZRX motor. he was selling it because he was making a Kawabusa. I think its pretty cool, but now it wouldnt be the best combo. buy a ZX14 "crate engine" from Muzzys and put that in your ZRX:evil:

You might want to base it on a motoplast frame, it looks like it would work with the high air box

My 2cents...I like the concept!

zx10 in a KZ frame that is.....not the Kawabusa...well not that the bike's not cool or well done....but c'mon now...let's honor purity with a late model K motor in an old style K frame...

There's nothing that can't be done with the proper attitude and the proper tools.

I say grab the motor, pop it into the fram with a jack under it and start figuring out where things need to bolt up to make it work!B)

Seconded. I'd like to see that myself. ;)
