For anyone who's interested(I know I was) about what a KZ1000LTD, bone stock, w/ 24K miles does in the 1/4, here is my result, right from the slip. 04 Suzuki Bandit1200 on the left, me on the right.

I1-2.117 2.008 60 ft
I2-5.78 5.425
I3-8.453 @ 91.334 8.307 @ 84.460 1/8 mi
1000' - 10.707 10.806
ET: 12.761 @ 112.5 13.116 @ 100.6

I know the bike can def hit high 12's with a harder launch, and a powershift closer to redline. I shifted at about 8K RPM.

I was shifting a little soon because originally this was going to be a bracket race day, and i didn't want to run the piss out of her every time. Unfortunately, there were way to many people there, so I only got one run. By power shifting, i meant staying on the gas while shifting.. I have raced other people this way, and i know it makes a difference. One of these Saturday nights i'm goin out there to see what she has.... but thats when I get my truck back from being repaired from an attempted theft.

those time arnt bad for a bone stock bike at all expecialy the 1/8 time... i dont shift till i hit 10grand on the tack at the track. i have only ran on the 1/8 mile tracks and when i was pretty much bone stock i was only turn a time of 8.15 at best and i am a 200lb rider so ur not far off. you can gain a little by picking up some wheel speed buy changing sprockets and droping the rear whell to a 17 or 16.

What carbs are you running? I was shifting about 8500 and was running out of carb at the top end. You might try shifting at a lower rpm. I also changed my front sproket to a 14 and knocked about 3/4 of a second off my time.

i used to run a 14 front sprocket....wont ever do that agian. i finaly learned a few things about wheel speed and going down in the front isnt the best way to get it. best thing to do is to go up in the back and the front. that way you have a great gear for coming out of the hole and you still have topend. going down in wheel size to a 17 or 16 inch wheel wil also add wheel speed. i have a 17 inch wheel on the back of my kz1000 and run a 16/46 gear and i got one hell of a take off and i can run it 145-150 all day long. yeah 145-150 mph isnt all that compared to crotch rockets now adays but for a old school geared for street/ drag racing that a pretty goood top end. when u run low front sprockets yes it helps coming off the line but you use your motor up quicker. i doubt you were out of carb on top end more than likely you were running out of motor on the top end.

<<<is running 34 cv carbs buy the way.....

the thing ive noticed about times though is its mostly what the particular bike and conditions will allow.a bike that runs 10s in california might only run 12s around here,it would be a lot easier to compare if we all lived in same area;)

sounds like we need to set up a kzr track day....:woohoo:

i agree elevation and climate were you are located has some effect on how well you run. like a few weeks ago when i took my bike to test and tune night. it was so cold. the track wasnt sticky at all. in the sumer i can hardly pick my feet off the ground because its so sticky on the track. i coulnt break out of the mid to uper sevens. 7's for anything. i even tired launching at 3500 rpm lol and was smoking the tire past the the tree and kicking sideway hitting second.

the only good i was that night was my reaction times. i am quick off the line. on the verge of redlighting actualy. all of my reaction times were between .015 to .150 .most were from.015 to .069.

I've been 7.80's in the 1\8 and 12.60's in the quarter at 100mph in the 1\4 and 85-89 in the 1\8 at a sea level track hooking good. My best 60` was a 1.78 and the jetting never was right or I always had ignition probs. I think it had some mid 11's in it and some low 7's high 6's in the 1\8th. The bike was a stock ltd chassis 4 inches over with wiseco 1015 10:25:1 kit in it. footshifted leaving at 4500-5000 most of the time spinning or wheelying hard. Hope my two cents helps.

Dragracing, your desire would be at the other end of the track.what ever the bike pulls to(your redline)HIGH GEAR-REDLINETHATS YOUR GEARING.

I agree with this. For the 1/4, gear to pull very close to redline in 5th. For the 1/8th, gear to pull close to redline in 4th. Of course this will limit top end and cause a higher "cruise" rpm but this will optimize your dragstrip ET potential.
