I have a 1976 kz650.
When the bike is cold and I have the choke on, if I have the bike upright idle is constant. But if I tilt the bike to the left or the right the idle slows down. If the bike is warmed up though I dont have this problem.
I have cleaned out the gas tank, replaced all gas hoses and filters. Took apart the petcock and cleaned and replaced o rings. Cleaned carbs and new air filter.
Thanks,

fritz

The only thing in the fuel delivery that would be affected by the lean (assuming it isn't too radical) would be the floats. How much lean and how much RPM loss?

Sticking float? Carbs sync'ed? What's the idle screws turned out to? Any modifications to the carbs?

Don't tilt the bike to the left or the right when the bike is cold. Problem solved!!!:P

My 650 behaves the same way. It only does it when it's cold, once it's warm it idles constant whether upright or leaned on the stand. I don't worry about it.

I won't worry about it, its just simply that the gas in the carbs are just begining to flow through as they are warmed when the bike is warm plus its at a tilt and it sets the floats at different heights, plus i scare myself if I run my bike at a lean now( past experience of oil starved no.4 crank bearing caused my previous owner)
