leaking around crankcase
13 Aug 2006 06:36
ELLO,
I got this leakage of oil coming from the head gasket below the crankcase.. it doesn't show up that good on picture but when i ride a little stream of oil goes down (and on to me pants
)
I wonder, i filled the bike with full synthetic 10w40 because some bike shopkeeper said that this was the best stuff even for such an old bike. Now after the oil change (don't know what was in it before, bought it like that) the bike starts leaking.
What should i do now? go and fix the gasket? or simply change the oil for 20w50 half synthetic and hope for the best? I know it's still not leaking enormously but but I kinda hate the oil spilling everywhere (and the costs of addidng expensive oil that is
)

go back to standard oil.
synthetic is smaller molecules and slicker fluid
better sometimes isn't better.
but redoing the gaskets isn't a bad idea if you have the time and resourses. new gaskets will prevent seepage if you like running the synthetic oil
