Can anyone ID this header (Part 2)?
08 Aug 2006 12:34
Hello folks, both set of pipes came off KZ1000A1's. The upper set is a brand new V&H, the lower set is unknown. The lines are similar to a Kerker but the muffler/can is wrong. The baffle is removeable. Guesses?

There were obviously a lot of aftermarket exhaust systems produced for these bikes. I wonder how many (including mine) are a J.C. Whitney special?

the megaphone on the right looks like an old Kerker I have, it has a weld almost in the middle of the megaphone. The reason I use to think mine wasn't a kerker was that it didn't have a recessed part for the kerker badge, but then I found out that the really old ones didn't.
The one pic looks definetly like the kerker header just not the megaphone. mine use to sound really good. Now it just hangs on the wall.

If it isnt a Kerker It might possibly be a old Hooker. The way the can looks and mounts looks identical to the can on my 650 which is a Hooker bought in 1980.Not to burst your BUBBLE Hooker quit making headers for our older bikes some years ago.I had called them last year when I lost the baffle out of mine.

The header in question looks exactly like mine from the pics. I had the same identification problems as you, but after searching, I decided it looked a lot like a MAC exhaust. I blew out my baffle one day while blatting down the highway LOUD:pinch: so I had to replace it. Turns out the MAC baffle was a match. You should be able to tell by the baffle, I'll try to get a pic up for you tomorrow of mine, but it's basically two circular endpieces with separate tubes welded side-by-side in the middle and kinda squished on the ends. Hope this helps.
