This one has me stumped. So far I've not found any identifying marks on this header or muffler. The pipes feed a 2-1 collector on each side and where the muffler slips on, the collector is approximately 2.75~3.00" in diameter. I can come up with close-up pics if needed.

I'm not sure whether I want to keep this set. I have my eyes open for a stock system in good condition. I'd even be willing to trade straight up!

If nothing else I'd like to find a pair of reverse megaphone mufflers for it. I think it would be quieter to the rider, at least.

Hey NONB - From the pics you posted my guess would be a Jardine pipe as they were designed with the turned out mufflers similar to what you have shown.

However, the exhaust downtubes almost look factory, especially given the condition of the chrome. Perhaps the previous owner mated a set of Jardine mufflers to the factory downtubes.

Any aftermarket set of pipes will blue or bronze since they usually only have a single application of chrome treatment. The factory pipe's chroming doubled up and better quality than any aftermarket pipes I have seen.

I was going to say slash cut Jardine pipes, but I couldn't find a pic to back it up.
However, in my search, I found a set of MAC's on ebay that similar.
Not sure about any markings though.

Judging by the pics in my manuals of the stock system, I don't think they are stock pipes. The angles seem to have a sharper bend and the pipes hang lower below the frame than the stockers. The Jardine (and other mufflers I've found) seem to have a maximum inlet diameter of 1.75", much smaller than these.

I'm certain these are aftermarket all the way through.

Mario, at first I thought they were MAC as well, but they don't match up at all with the current MAC offering. Now, they could be older. On these the entire collector length is maybe 6 to 7", much shorter than those in your pic. Also, these mufflers do not have a swage where they go onto the collector.

Okay, this evening I pushed the bike out and took some closeup pictures. I have better quality pics hosted at my ISP than you can see here. After each image I've included a link that will give you a better image (some are as large as 1024x768).

I got a good pic of one of the labels. This is from the right side muffler:

Label

I could never read it before, but when I looked at the pic here on the screen, it's rather obvious that it's Drag Specialties.

From the left side:

The mounts on the mufflers use a slide and the stock mounting plate (it would appear). You can see the rubber bumber the centerstand would rest against when raised:

From above:

And here is the right hand side from the bottom. In the distance you can see the clamp bolt that clamps the muffler to the collector:

And finally, here is a better view of the right hand collector (the left is identical):

Collector

The seam to the left is where the muffler clamps onto the collector. No welds are obvious.

Overall, I would say that quite a bit of thought went into this system. It fits to the bike, and while it might be a bit loud for me (I haven't rode it yet, how can I pass that kind of judgement?) the chrome looks good. But, I'm not so sold on the turnouts. If I could get a set of reverse megaphones I'd probably be much happier.

Of course, I doubt Drag Specialties would admit to ever having made a header system for a UJM.

They probably didn't make it, Drag Specialties is a distributor of parts (I think number two behind Parts Unlimited) and I don't think they manufacture anything.

I think Tucker Rocky is number three, but I could have the order messed up. :)
