KZ 750 Twin Engines
18 Jul 2006 04:56
Hi ppl, In relation to my rebuild occurring. Did Kawasaki make changes to the twin's engines over the 1976 - 84 years manufacture. Hopefully not, maybe to make things easier for me. LOL Tks in advance Trevor.

I think they made changes after 79-80. I think..
Some of the other twin heads will chime in here soon. I'm still learning about my 79.

Clear as mud?

To many little difference to list, but it kinda goes like this:
76-77 had a regulator controlled alternator, so reg/rec are different as is alternator and cover. Also had 1/2" round top front master cylinder.
78-79 have permanent magnet alternator and trapozoidal shaped cap on a 5/8" master cylinder. 79 was last year of rear disk brake.
80 has different sidecovers/tail, and a 1/2" rectangular cover on the front master cylinder, no center stand, and the carbs are a little different (don't ask how I know). Mag wheels stock with rear drum brake
Engines on the above models are all pretty much the same.
81 not produced.
82 is first year for the emission head and valve cover, pull knob choke, and has emission carbs with only one clip position on the needles. Also has electronic ignition. CSR model with leading axle forks and spoke wheels.
83 is last year of production and has belt drive and a center stand, otherwise looks like an 82. Edit: 83 may have had mag wheels also, don't remember at the moment.
History in a nutshell
