Exhaust mod-people can’t mesure right

Hey guys!

Just received my new to me muffler, Vance & Hines , it is looking really nice, nicer then I thought (came off a Harley, that says it all). Wanted to paint it black, but way to nice to do that. I message the shop I bought it from via eBay to confirm the I.D. was 2.25 inches to match my MAC 4into1 exhaust. Guess what... 2.25 is O.D. so they butt each other nicely.

So my solution is to make 4 slots with either a grinder, metal saw or a reciprocating saw on the exhaust side so I can compress it enough to slide the muffler over.

What do you think?

Thx

Hi JL, do you have any of those quick muffler shops like Midas or MufflerMan close by you?
They have a machine call a "swag or swager" hydraulic. can expand and contract metal. dont do the chrome muffler as that will crack the chrome. Get someone to downsize your front pipe. I've done this several times. This was on ebay. You'll get the idea of it!

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.

I have both shops in town. So they can downsize the 4into1 to 2 inches? They can clamp it down, because the 1 pipe is not that long?

Internal or external sleeve is an option.
