Valve shims
31 Mar 2020 19:30 - 31 Mar 2020 19:33
I have a 1981 k550. I have to change a few shims. My question is, do you rub a little clean oil on the shims and under the bucket or clean them off good and then install. I am thinking of cleaning them off so the light film of oil doesn't affect my gap measurement. Just looking for some input. Thanks.

Smear a little oil on them , if you have done the maths correctly this will not be a problem, also when the motor is running a fine film of oil will be under the shim anyway.
