how to run a kz 750 out of the bike in a hot rod.....

new member here,
i have a kawasaki kz 750 twin engine..... i want to use it in a hot rod......
it is a points engine, do these have an electronic ignition ?
if not , any idea how i wire it up to run..... the engine is complete including carbs & starter .

Howdy. I replied to your other topic with info about simplified wiring diagrams.
A 1976-79 KZ750B or 1980 KZ750G Twin would have come stock with points ignition.
The 82-84 KZ750M/K models had electronic ignition which can be used on the earlier models w points.

somehow martin i did not get that info on a wiring diagram ?
i am pretty sure that the kz 750 twin i have is a 1979, it is a points engine......
i plan to remove the stator and use an alternator .......

Standard points ign just uses battery , point and coils.
No "electronic ignition" unless the it's been modified to use the points as triggers.
The power output of that 750 twin engine may be disappointing for what you plan and you may have to drop the name "Hot Rod" for something a little more subdued.

The late model 750 twins had factory electronic ignition, i'm parting out an engine with this right now. As Zed said these engines would not be considered "hot rod" by most That being said I am working on an all out custom engine build that will hope to see 80HP to the wheel with 906cc displacement

I'll be the one to ask this. If you don't know how wire a super simple ignition system how are you going to swap this engine into anything? Are you sure you have the skill set to do this?
