Valves damage
11 Jul 2019 21:35
I disassembled the head to inspect it and do it and holly shit the all 4 exhaust valves have this very remarked damage I guess it is because it was fitted on the 1400 cc engine I had before.
I am using this head with the CM Z6 camshaft with the shims underbucket for a 1260 wise domes.
When I bought that bike I was told it had oversized valves but this are measuring 1.189 inches wich is 30.20 mm ex and 1.455 inches with is 36.95 mm in admission are this the original size valves for a 1979 KZ 1000 engine ar are oversized?I ask because I have another head of a kz 900 and the valves sizes differ a bit and the sizes are exhaust 1.181 inches 29.99 mm and intake are 1.415 inches with are 35.94 mm any sugestions?
I am adding pictures of the valves so you guys can see the wear on them I got lucky that none of those valves broke I guess
Thanks

I grew up riding and fixing all sort of small bike until I inherited A 1977 GS 750 when I was 16, that changed my life completely I love metric bike and I own a few fully working and have some projects.

Those are actually Manley valves and are not damaged at some point were made like that to make less contact with the valve guide.
never seem it before.

I suspect those valves were meant for drag use not street use. I doubt they or the guides would last under sustained use.

That is a early design valve to reduce weight. have not seen those in a long while.
