Can you get new springs for these? If so where do you get them?

I bought this one for parts. Notice the springs, rotor and arms are heavier.

This is the kind I have.

I may wind up buying one.

Years ago, I forget if it was a Mopar or Chevy straight 6 cyl eng. We used to tweek the distributor springs from them and use them.
Too bad no one makes them?? This is the most common problem with the older bikes! 50% of guys on this site, right now, most likely have worn springs that don't work like they should!

They will only be a little bit out of spec. It allows the advance to come in a little sooner than normal. You can easily correct it by squeezing one of the end loops on the spring a tiny bit. This makes it a little tighter and that is all that is needed. If you tighten up both loops, it will be too much in my experience. The advance will be delayed a little too much.

So yes they are stretched, but the difference is very little and can easily be corrected. You can easily verify it with a timing light and external, (usually higher precision) tach (so you can see both the RPM and advancer postion while crouched down).

Stay with the 21148-010 advance unit. It has the most initial degrees of advance of all the advance units. I think it has 40 degrees total advance too!!! Used to put the 21148-010 advance units in the 1973~1975 Z1's to help with their cold bloodness. Even used that same advance units in early Kz650's too. They don't have that lip that the standard Kz650 advancer has, but they do fit the Kz650's.
