Sprocket size ‘84 gpz750
30 May 2019 20:49
I’m getting almost ready to get my project 750 on the road.
It needs the chain and sprockets replaced.
It’s probably a little tired, with over 55000 km’s.
I’m just looking at having a bike to rip around town.
Just wondering about moving away from the stock gear sizes, thinking snappier gear ratio might be better.
Any ideas?
I have thoughts of a big bore kit down the road, but want to worry about the practical stuff first.
Before going head first down the rabbit hole...
Thank-you.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationFrom the diagrams at Partzilla for the 84 ZX750-A2 >> the stock sprockets are 15T Front & 38T Rear. ratio = 38/15 = 2.53. That ought to be peppy already. I have an 81 650-CSR w 13-33 combo & it seems kind of high revving to me. 33/13 = 2.54.
To increase the revs at a certain rpm, you would decrease the Fr sprocket or increase the Rr. A different Fr may not be available.
Your bike should have a front offset sprocket. #13144-1084. 15T. I don't know if other models have the same type or if any other
sizes available for the front. And I don't know if there's another solution for the front or if a 530 conversion can be done.
JT Sprockets only lists a 15T Fr, but they do list a number of sizes for the rear. Z1Enterprises.com probably has the JT parts.
There are several new oem Fr sprockets listed on eebbaayy. Sourcing a different rear should be simple.
ZX750 offset sprocket. there are a few cheaper than this one.

Adapting from 630 to 530 is the way to go. Cheaper, lighter, and more than strong enough. 18/46 sprockets would be a good choice.
