Help: where is the 1983 KZ440 TDC indicator (electronic ignition)?
02 Jan 2019 18:31 - 02 Jan 2019 18:32
First post on forum:
I can find plenty for finding the TDC timing mark with the "T" on points earlier bikes but not for an 83 KZ440 with electronic ignition. Is it behind the round cover on the lower right side of the engine like it would be for points bikes? See 2nd picture below) I've done valve adjustments on Honda motors but both times I had the motor on a bench and used a BF Wrench to rotate the motor. What's the easist way to bump the motor to find TDC? High(ish) gear and rotate the rear tire (on center stand)?
My Manual is for an older points KZ440 and not sure where to find the TDC indicator on an 81-83 bike. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the TDC notch?
On my other bikes, there is usually a cap of some sort on the right side of the engine that either unscrews or has a removable cover to see the TDC mark.
My old manual says 0.17-.022mm.
Thank you,
Dan

Yes
Under the cover in the2nd picture you should find the pulse coil/electronic ignition and behind that the advancer with F and T (TDC) marks.
If you put your cursor over "Articles" above you should get a drop down which includes "Manuals" which will get you to a 440 manual which has supplements for the 81- 82 models
