I didn't sand mine down. I probably should have. i don't know.I guess I'll see after I get it all back together again. Oh well. A winter turned spring project. If it ever stops raining and gets over 40* here I'll figure it out. Daveo- I have an extra OEM oil pressure fitting unit that's set up for cooler lines ala GPZ/Eddie Lawson style and 4 oem cooler line fittings. The hoses are cut, but maybe they can be fitted with new hose? And a cooler too I think....Interested?

What kind of liquid gasket do you use?
My half moons never do leaking after i have to do a little reshape with a key file in 1998 to get a little tight fit plus Hylomar blue.
My engine is dry like a dessert except the cam chain tunnel area and stator grommet.

Hylomar Universal Blue.

I'll take another shot at it...

 Don't feel bad. I used Yamabond on mine and they weep. The "rubberized ones never did.

Steve, I'm determined to eliminate the pesky little problem, once and for all. B)

I would reuse the gasket if there is a very-good chance it will seal again. Any suggestion what would best clean the oil off without ruining the gasket?

The cover gasket cleaned up well, so I reused it, and I reapplied the Hylomar for the second attempt...

Two days...just two. Two!

Went with Three Bond 1211 this time, with a new cover gasket. Had enough, and went with what I am familiar with.

That blue stuff was a pita for me. It starts to dry immediately after applying, making it impossible to spread evenly over the surfaces. Whatever the technique to applying it may be, I am done trying to figure it out.

One more attempt with the plugs, considering what I have invested...we'll see.

Those end plugs really made me wonder,, how long before the pretty rubs off. Next time I will consider vapor blasting.

As long as she owns me, the "pretty" will always be there. It simply takes a clean-soft cloth with a dab of polish on it. :)
Besides, she runs better while pretty for some reason. Take today for instance...

We had a vigorous four-hour ride this afternoon and evening, more than enough to break loose a poor seal or two...
...still dry and shiny, so I have hope. :cheer:

Perhaps Three Bond 1211 will save the day after all
