Heat will most likely be your best friend. A propane torch may work but MAP or Oxy/Acetylene will probably be better.

penetrating fluid.....heat.....vice grips......stud removal tool.....weld a bolt onto the end of the old stud.
Don't get on the bolt a torque the chit out of it......move it one way then the other in very small increments. Once it moves oil it and go slow back and forth.
If you try to go at it one way hard you could break the boss or casting off.

Rather than using vice grips you might try using jamb nuts if there is any thread left. That would allow you to get a proper wrench on there to apply more turning force.
Also, you may apply some penetrating oil to the stud and allow it to sit overnight prior to removal. If all that fails, heat up the area around the stud with a torch. Also it is possible to weld a nut to a broken stud for removal. Usually the heat from welding helps to break the offending stud loose.

I would use heat, a penetrant, & vibration.
heat -->> propane torch
pentrant -->> Kroil (best) or Liquid Wrench (good) -->> apply & let it work overnight
vibration -->> wood block & a mallet -->> it may be too late but install a couple of nuts on the stud to help absorb the impacts & protect the stud.

For sure I would soak it with Kroil for a couple days before even trying to remove it. Ed
