750 Timing chain question
05 Jun 2006 06:04
I have an 80 KZ 750. I was changing the valve gasket and noticed what feels like too much "give" in in the timing chain between cam 1 and 2. I also have a lot of chain clatter when I ride so I have ordered a new chain tensioner. WIll that fix my issue or better yet how can I check my timing chain.

Put your bike year, model and your location in your signature (edit profile). Not sure if you have a twin or 4 cylinder model. The model makes a difference. Some KZ models have a tensioning mechanism in their valve cover which make the chain appear slack when the cover is removed. I doubt a new cam chain tensioner will solve your problem.

The service limit for 20 links of camchain held taught is 128.9mm. Ebay is a good source for workshop manuals by the way...
