The z4's are .420 lift meaning you'll have to go shim on bottom. I'm running APE .410 lift cams in my 1075 and really like them. To really take advantage of a cam that size you'll need some serious head work done too.

Cam motion Z4 is a pretty hot cam for a 1075 I have done a couple 1075s with the Z4 cams and Yes you can run them shim on top just make sure your spring pressures are correct and set your valve clearances to .004in on the INT and EX you will be fine the Cam motion manual says largest cam with shim on top retainers.

I was told that anything over .410 would actually lift the shim off the bucket because of the way it contacts it not because of lack of spring pressure. I seem to recall it being widely regarded that .410 is the max reccomended lift for shim on top when I built my motor. Not saying dfigpz is wrong just singing the song I know the words to.

If you're going to stay with stock size valves, order them with a 1.080" base circle.

If you're going to go with over size valves, order them with a 1.050" base circle.

Z4 is a nice cam if you like the tach needle heading home a lot when you ride and you're not opposed to flogging the shift lever when required.

If it were me, with a 1075 for the street, I'd get the Z1 grind or K410, some GPz11 38mm intake valves and push some air through the head. Top it off with some RS34's. [because they seem to be easier to get than CRS]

Hey Larry - (sorry to Hijack) have you checked on the Keihin's lately? I saw Dynoman had some listed as not available for a bit, but his inventory seems to have replenished - is it possible that the Keihin supply lines are back up and running?

No, I haven't. I got so frustrated with waiting on them I gave up after the quake in Japan. Maybe things are getting better now. I hope so :)
