KZ650 Cam chain tensioner

I have a 1980 KZ650E1 LTD and recently purchased an APE
manual adjuster from Z-1. It does not specifically list my model on the packaging, but the bolt holes and reach seem to be appropriate (I have not actually fitted it at this time). The part that rides against the tensioner is smaller than stock and is not rubber covered. Has anyone used one of these in a 650 successfully?
