4-into-4 stock exhaust

I'm toying with the idea of hanging up my Kerker with the street baffle in favor of the stock (replacements from Z1) 4-into-4 mufflers without the baffles. Anyone familiar with this? I'm on a never-ending quest to stand out even more from all the squids riding around SoCal.

Other than the price, something like $1,600, how loud would they be? Would the lack of a baffle hurt performance? I remember seeing someone write on here how sweet that sound was and I can only imagine.

If it has tits or tires, it'll give you problems!

I don't remember the stock exhaust being all that loud with baffles.

The irony of the $1,600 price tag is the thousands of stock exhaust that went into dumpsters back in the 70s and 80s.

I don't recommend it, as I am looking for baffles to correct that situation. Tuning is never stable without some back pressure at least for my 900. . . . and VERY loud depending on state restrictions maybe ticket worhty.

If you want to get rid your pipes look no further....

Definitely agree with the backpressure issue, I wonder if you could modify the baffles to run open without any guts but still give a little back pressure.

That may have been me, the 4-4 Z1 pipes without baffles is a sweet exhaust note. Didn't have to rejet or change anything on my Z1 either as I remember just removed the horsehair wrap and the end baffle. WMKZ900, hear you on the many many sets of 4-4 pipes that got pitched, only makes me cry when I think of how many I personally made disappear...

Well, going off your signature- 5 sets? At a conservative $1,200 a set, that's six grand! Doh!

When I bought mine I bought them all as singles, it took quite awhile but I got all clean pipes for under 500 total with shipping B)

Actually it's worse. My old partner and I sat down one time when the prices started getting up there, got to about 15-16 sets. Needed a raincoat & crying towels to sit in on that conversation...

Who would have thought, back in the eighties, that 25 years in the future anyone could possibly want Z1 4 into 4 stock exhaust. I tossed probably 4 sets of Kawasaki H2 exhaust systems into a scrap dumpster in the mid 80s.

On another note, the std. 4 into 4 Z1 exhaust systems match the styling of the Z1 much better than the 4 into 1 systems.
