so the ride home was interesting lol

ran the batt out trying to start her up, jumped it, started it, only 2 cylinders for a bit till it warmed up then it was fine. at one point i was pulling up to a light and i felt it pull back down to 2 but i revved it and all 4 kicked back in wierd!

anywhy ill probly have to wait until saturday to check it all out too bad, i just got my new joe rocket jacket :P

for now i can say that the plugs, and wires are new since last winter, but i still need to check the plugs.

lol i just went out and it started right up so i got to ride the jacket, its great! i got the hemp jacket. anywhy i think ll get the most improvement out of doing an old fashioned tune up

i love this forum! thanks for all your very insightful and speedy responses ill get back to you and tell u what iv found ;)

Peace!

This happened to my CSR 1000 earlier this year... RetroRiceRocketRider pointed me in the direction of the pickup coils... One side was failing under heat buildup. Replacing it fixed the problem.

aaaaaaand this morning when i went to start it, and it started up with a little effort, didnt have to choke it, all 4 pistons just fine

and it was a very dewy morning.. i dont have a garage so i park outside and had to wipe a bunch of condensation off the seat

still have to wait for saturday to really take time to do a tune up

so far iv cleaned the connectors for the ignition system and checked the valve clearances. all intake gaps were right on, 3/4 exhaust valves were off - 2 so tight i couldn't fit a .072mm tap in the gap and the other was 1 shim size to small.

realized after i took the valve cover off that i should have preordered a valve cover gasket :pinch:

it sucks not having a garage!

OH i totally forgot to add this..

i was reading in another post recently about ignition system trouble and i have this quarky problem too..

my tach dosen't always read true, most of the time it reads about half of what is actually happening.

but i dont notice a difference in the way it runs when it only reads half and, it used to be where i could tap the tach with my knuckle and it would read right for a while. so perhaps this is evidence that its not an ignition problem affecting the tach but loose wires/connection somewhere else?

thoughts?

You got a pick up coil problem. If ANY of the pick up wires are exposed(hanging out)of the bottoms of the pick up coils, they are junk.Little known fact:> Most Kawasaki pickups are the same!!!The lead wires may be longer or shorter, but as long as there as there is the 4 wire connector, your're good to go.
