ATTN: KZ750 4-cyl owners!
15 May 2006 18:08
Hi, I'll be putting in a 750 head on my 650 soon, but I don't have the manual for the 750. Can anybody point me in the right direction for the specs I should look over?

I think reborn650 did something similar recently - look for his posts. I have a Haynes manual so if there is any info I can helo with just holler. Also mbsween has the factory manual on his website. check here

Good luck.

Should bolt right on, the only thing in question is about the fit of the head gasket... short of that I think you are fine.
The wider combustion chambers might prove to be a worry though...

Ah yes. Right.
Also. I started to wonder about a 750 head on a 650 case.......is'nt the cam chain on a 650 the regular (bicycle) type chain ? The cam chain on the 750 is a hy-vo type chain. How does one work artound this ?

I'm downloading that manual right now, JR, at a blazing 4.5 kbs/s.
I may need to get in touch with colin (reborn650) to figure out exactly WHICH 750 head I have in order to know which specs to look over.
I should have been more specific from the get go, I want to make sure that this head is in good shape before I install it in my bike, so I need to know what to measure and what those measurements ought to be, also if I need to make any qualitative observations. I can't imagine what needs to be done to verify a good 650 head is much different than what needs to be done to verify a good 750 head, but I don't really know much about it (yet

Not sure if the 750 uses the same chain guide in the valve cover like the 550, but don't install the cam-chain tensioner until after the valve cover is tight. The valve cover pushes down on the chain as part of the chain guide system. If you put the valve cover on after the chain tensioner, the chain will be too tight.
Agin, not sure if it's the same on the 750, but the manual should say.
