Air box and oil leak at tach cable

Just purchased a 1981 GPz550. It needs a new air box, the previous owner put pods on it, but the jets are stock I think. Do you know what years of GPz's or KZ's are compatible with it? I saw one on ebay that says its from an 1985, and comparing it to the 81's part fiche diagram it looks almost identical. Here is the ebay posting cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-Kawasaki-ZX...fPartsQ5fAccessories

As for the tach cable, is there an o-ring where the cable goes into the head? It's leaking from there and want to fix.

This is my first bike. I have a lot of mechanical experience with cars, but totally new to bikes.

***Could a mod please move this to the carburetor sub-forum? Thanks!

According to Kawasaki.com these take the same airbox:
KZ550-A1 (1980)
KZ550-A2 (1981)
KZ550-A3 (1982)
KZ550-C1 (LTD) (1980)
KZ550-C2 (LTD) (1981)
KZ550-C3 (LTD) (1982)
KZ550-C4 (LTD) (1983)
KZ550-D1 (GPz) (1981)

The oil leak can be easily fixed by replacing the tach seal, Z1 Enterprises carries them. Their site is hung at this moment, but the link below shows what they look like. Ed

Ordered tach seal from Ebay, I'm probably going to get a new air box from kawasakipartswarehouse.com instead of scouring the country for a used one.

Does the tach cable at the head pull out or unscrew?

At the engine, there should be be a nut on the cable, this connects to a fitting on the engine that spins the tach cable.

On my KZ650 there's a knurlen nut that unscrews and a little plate behind it held on by a screw (see pic).

Mine's exactly the same, I just didn't know if the knurled part unscrewed or if it was just the phillips head screw. Awesome thanks.
