how do you clean the oil sight glass?

mine is dirty on the inside and carb cleaner did little to nothing to it

I had to take the side cover off then scrub it with a very thin brush from the inside (modeler's brush) and spritz it with carb cleaner spray.

i used an L-shaped pick and stuffed the seem of a red rag in the hole then used the pic to wipe it around.seemed to work out for me.

I just pulled off the clutch cover and popped out the sight glass to clean mine.

That's just too easy.....

mine wasn't leaking so i did not want to disturb the seal.

It is no problem at all, it will not leak. The only thing to remember is to push it out with a piece of wood or plastic. Do not use metal. I just take a 2" piece of paint stirrer cut to the same size as the slot behind the glass. I than place it in the slot and turn the cover so I am looking at the sight glass. Than I start exerting slow and steady pressure against a flat surface until the glass pops out. I have removed about 12 that way when I was Gun-Koting my covers because you have to bake the stuff on at 325* after application. The glass with the seal still went in with some resistance when I replaced it afterwards.

I put a new sight glass in mine and in 6 months it looked as bad as the old one.Losing battle I think.Lol.bj

The glass will ONLY get that way if you get water in the oil for some reason.

My new one fogged up when I first ran the new motor and I was totally diagusted, then the day I thought I had had enough it was clear. Hasn't fogged up since.
