KZ650 OIl Cooler installation
05 Feb 2010 15:58
Hey all,
Have another question for seasoned Kz'er.
I been thinking long and hard about puttin an oil cooler on. I know the benefits of it and etc. But is it practical, and fairly easy to do? Oh and what about an oil temp gauge? I've seen them or other makes of bikes and think it would be something I wanna do.The ones I've seen are just pretty much an oil cap. I sure widh this weather would break, wanna log some miles.
Thanks again

Not a big necessity for most KZ riders.
Unless your living in a really hot area, and do get stuck in traffic (in which case no air moving over the cooler will not help).
Performance/race engines can benifit from a cooler.
Ease - A GPz750 oil pan will bolt on the 650, and has the hook up for the cooler. Other kits are available, and require the fittings to be intsalled, lines routed etc.
Temp guages I've seen for the other KZs, so don't see why you couldn't find one to fit the 650.
I just removed a cooler from my bike that had been on for a number of years.
Me, living in the Great White North, it was not really needed.

Yeah I have the GPZ oil pan and cooler to go on my 650, but it's only because I'm boring it out to 810. I'm still putting a thermostat in line since I live int eh Great White North too.
