1975 900 Z1B vs. KZ?
20 Jun 2018 07:14
A friend of mine tells me his friend has a 1975 KZ900 for sale. I’m telling him the KZ was 76 and above, a 75 would be a Z1.
He checked and said his friend told him the title says 1975 KZ900. I know titles can have mistakes. I’ll be going to look at it in a couple of weeks. Is there somewhere that I can get information on VIN numbers and Engine numbers so that when I see it I can determine exactly what it is?
Thanks

zedder.com has info on Kaw models and engine and frame numbers. The frame number is used to title in many states. There will be a manufacturing date which is often the previous year (they were making a model in Sep-Dec time frame which goes on sale as the next years model). Although the Z1B many have a bit more collectible value, the KZ900 is a better bike; better frame bracing and improved carburetors (only my personal opinion on the last)>
