1978 KZ750 twin, 3 carb

Hello all. I just bought a 78 KZ750 twin with 3 carbs. It seems like most of the 750's I see are two carb. I was told that there were only a few hundred made that way. It also dosent have a title, and I looked at the VIN number which is only eleven characters long. Can anyone help me out with any information at all on this bike? Anything would be greatly appreciated. It is a really nice and clean looking bike.

Sounds like someone was rather handy around the shop and decided to make something very unusual. I have never seen or heard of any engine that has more carbs than cylinders, and I cannot imagine how 3 carbs would feed 2 cylinders. PLEASE post a picture showing the carbs and intake manifold as you have a one of a kind bike! Ed

One other thought ---

Are you POSITIVE it's a twin (that's a 2 cylinder engine)? Kawasaki did make a model with a 3 cylinder 750cc 2-stroke engine up until about 1975, and it came with 3 carbs. Ed

I bought the bike sight unseen. I only saw pics of it. Now that I have the bike in my possession, it is only 2 carbs. I don't know what the dude was thinking. I still need to find out how to apply for a title, and the bike only has eleven characters for the VIN number

Is there a way to pull up the VIN # to get some info on the bike?

Interesting. I guess Honda didn't love that idea too much or their 6 cylinder CBX would have had 12 carbs! :woohoo: :woohoo: Talk about an expensive tune-up!  Ed
