Well, it seems my son and his riding companion have Macgyver'd a solution to the problem. Neither of the boys are riding Kawi's but can you believe the problem is related to ... (da da daaaaa) ... Pod filters. Doh!
I guess they're going to press-on (heading out to SoCal for a wedding) and stop at the first Harley dealer for a part made to solve this problem.
I kinda' rolled my eyes when my wife said "he's broken down in Sonora; says it's something to do with the carb...". Didn't we just have this discussion a few nights ago when he was tuning-up the bike for this trip? Sigh. Form over function again. I bet this will change his outlook on pods now!

LOL. Yeah i kept hearing that old joke in my head - "Ride a Harley, ride the best. Ride a mile, walk the rest."
But seriously it's a nice machine. He even custom painted it in my garage with some sweet House of Kolor paints but sadly he bought an aftermarket air cleaner assy that was ... a pod but a poor part too.
Ultimately, the bike is too comprimised now & i'll be driving out tomorrow to pick him up. Bummer.

Did it eat the air cleaner?

I'm not entirely sure but he's saying it's become hard to start & running badly enough that he'll be delaying his pal from making it in time to the wedding in SoCal. I guess they lost half the day to this problem. I'm sure we'll get it running properly but time is not available in the schedule.

If it ran good enough to get to Sonora then I seriously doubt it is a pod issue. If it was pod related it would have reared it's ugly head the moment he put it on.

Yeah that is what i thought too. Especially since he rode from Waco down to Austin to meet his pal & headout on 10 west but seems it's the pod mounting part that is/was flimsy & fell apart. We'll see tomorrow but both guys have been riding HD for years so i gotta think they'd have fixed it if possible. No joy either way since his friend is now rethinking the trip altogether so he doesn't end up riding alone. I feel bad for them.
