Is the Z440-D6 an oddball model?
29 Oct 2015 03:44
Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone knows the story on the Z440-D6. When I search the Kawasaki.com site, it looks like the model run stops with the 1983 Z440-D5, but the bike I have is a 1984 Z440-D6. Was the D6 model only sold in Canada or something like that? Any info that anyone could offer on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Ii suspect you have a pretty rare bike. I'm really glad to see that you plan to keep it stock as it may be one of the last of its kind till in one piece (maybe the very last).
You may want to also ask about it on the KZ400 / 440 forum (see link). Folks there have a great deal of knowledge about KZ400 / 440 models. Ed

At kz400.com click on model identification. I see it listed but didn't look any further

Are you in Canada? If so, then it may have been imported. Since it's a Z440, it was probably sold in Europe & elsewhere outside of North America. Kawasaki.com lists a 1984 KZ750-K2 Canada model --- if an 84 440 had been available in the USA or Canada, it would have been listed in the diagrams as a KZ.

My Mistake,
The owners manual that I got with the bike is for a Z440-D6, but it contains a supplement pamphlet that is for the Canadian model the KZ440-D6.
