I am asking too much $$

So, I have my 82 550 LTD for sale. Complete bike, runs good now with the motor from my 81 parts bike (7kmiles). Also have title. Tires are newer, as are brakes. Everything works. The 81 is a complete titled bike, but has my motor with 22k on it installed, burns a little oil. The carbs would need to be cleaned and the bike cleaned up, but it would run. I also included a complete gasket kit, new oem piston rings, hot cams shim kit and my other various parts laying around for it. I was asking $1k for everything. I have not gotten any hits, other than two guys: 1 is negotiating for $700 without seeing them, and the other guy wants just the running bike.

I thought 1k for both bikes and everything included was a darn good deal.... Am I off base on this one?

NO, not off base....hang on. All that stuff is worth $900- $1000 easy.
Here's the rub right now.... riding season will be winding down very soon and a project bike is a fun thing to think about in the first of February through to April, not so much with fall and winter looming.

If money is tight or a problem right now, I guess I'd take $700 for the 82', running bike ...but not both.
I think most buyers, who would want both, are like us ...DIY'rs and looking for an easy project at low cost.
A semi-skilled home shop mechanic could probably buy both... and "half ass" restore the 81',... flip it for $500-$600 in the spring and have a inexpensive investment in the 82'.
That's what I would do if I had the cash and room for another bike.
Do you have any pictures that we/I've missed???

You'll get the low ballers first. I my state the fees are $600 if not kept up to date 3 years. I sold mine for $600 because I needed the money. Wish I could have kept it. Hang in there.

Steve what fees are you talking about?

I'll grab some photos in the next few days. My intent was to have the 82 pretty cherry and keep the 81 for parts - I got it for $300 and we all know if just a few items need replacing you're at $300 quickly. I also toyed with getting the 81 running and flip it for 300-500 but you know damn well the minute I can't see the tail light my 82 will need something from the 81 lol

DMV fees. Yeah I had spare everything until the local Meth Head RATS got to them.

It's a $25.00 per month fee here if you do not register. Highway robbery !!!
I know people who sold their motor vehicles to their spouse and then back again to avoid the $150.00 fine.
Total BS revenue generating unamerican tax!!
