Work shop manual needed
09 Aug 2015 14:47 - 09 Aug 2015 14:48
I have just picked up a Kz250 twin for $300. Aesthetically It's pretty rough but the engine looks like it'll run. I really need a workshop manual for the bike but I can't find one on the internet. If anyone could please help it would be greatly appreciated. The bike is a 1982. sorry for photo it's the only one I have.

I agree completely - do a search; maybe offer the seller in the link I gave $20 since he is accepting offers. Whatever you do, just be sure to get the CORRECT manual for your bike. Notice the 4th picture in the listing I linked to shows the back cover of that manual. Take a close look at that back cover. Notice it lists the various models covered in the manual, and that list includes the 1982 KZ250-A4 and B3 models. Make SURE the back cover of whichever manual you buy shows your specific model in the list. There were plenty of different KZ250 models made, and if you buy the wrong manual it will not be worth much to you since all the models have differences. Ed

Ok new question. Do I have to find the right manual for my bike or was there only one type of Kz250 Twin?

As mentioned by 650ed, find a manual for your bike. Kawasaki service manuals typically cover a range of years &/or models & have a model application chart on the back cover. Model identification: Kawasaki.com. cyclechaos.com. the diagrams at partzilla list a 250-CSR belt.

For the answer to both questions PLEASE read my reply again at www.kzrider.com/forum/13-bike-related/59...manual-needed#685129 Yes, of course you should buy the right manual for your bike; why would you even consider buying the wrong manual? :S
I worded that reply to try to help you avoid buying the wrong manual. I have nothing to gain by lying to you. I am not selling manuals of any type. Ed

Thankyou for all the help. I have a new question though.
my engine number is:
KZ250AE 04617
After the seven there is another number that looks like either a 4 or an A.
If someone could assist in deciphering this engine number it would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Ethan

CycleChaos was mentioned earlier in this topic.
I think an engine number will have 6 numerical digits at the end, so it's probably a 4.
The engine number for the 82 L1 has a DE instead of AE after the 250 part. I didn't check any other models.

I looked on CycleChaos and there was nothing that matched my engine number.
So, I contacted Kawasaki directly and they said that the bike could be a Z250-A3 1981 model.
I still don't think that this is right because the wheels on my bike are spoked and I think that they are the original wheels and my engine is completely black.
I have the green manual that covers the Z250 twins and the KZ305 twins also I think that this is the right manual. There is also a model identification in the manual but it is really hard to find the right model because my bike is not original.
