You got it! I suggest we all be sure to have one another's cell phones before we depart on this trip. PM if you like. My cell is 630-391-1787. We will need to pick the meet up spot in Cortez. When riding through recently I did notice it to be a fair sized town with several businesses & restaurants. I will research. Any suggestions welcome.

When are you arriving in South Fork? Any or all of us that are already settled in at The Ute Bluff Lodge can ride from South Fork together. We can make this one of our full day rides. I have an itinerary in mind.

Re: Who is going to the Relay Rally in South Fork CO?
25 Jul 2014 15:20 - 25 Jul 2014 15:32
For Wednesday August 6th.
Here is a meet up location to catch inbound Baldy. Cortez has been chosen so whomever arrives early can have an air conditioned place to hang out and even get a bite to eat. Cortez is also the ideal location prior to us heading to Four Corners. So, here goes:
Baldy you have the furthest of us since you are riding in from Richfield, UT to Cortez. That looks to be just a tick under 300 miles. It will take you at least 5-6 hours if hitting I-70 and then down past Moab to Cortez. Let's shoot for a late morning/noon meet up. Would you be able to make it into Cortez by then?
Let's meet at Blondies Trophy Room located at 45 E. Main, Cortez CO 81321 at the corner of Main(U.S. Rt 160) & Beech Street. They open at 11:00 a.m. and their phone number is 970-565-4015. We should be able to hang out in air conditioned comfort while we gather up.
We may even have the local paper courtesy of the Cortez Chamber of Commerce meet us for a photo op and story for their local paper. Not sure but may happen.
For us travelling from South Fork to Cortez the distance is 150 miles. We should be able to ride at an easy pace and maybe even stop off at Mesa Verde National Park to sneak a peak at the Anasazi Ruins.
Once we are rested we can shoot down to Four Corners for The Relay Flag plant in Four States at once! :woohoo:
After the pomp & ceremony we can head back to South Fork for some R&R and further Fellowship of The Flag.

We will be doing 4500 miles or so during 10 days, with hopefully one or more days out of the saddle to rest the Butt.
This is going to be Great!

Cool! AND, glad that can work for you. You have the fuller day of riding and appreciate the early start. Should help you get through that red rock oven called Utah during the cooler morning hours.

Quality Not Quantity. I am good with the size of our group. I have rides mapped out to different areas each day. We can adapt the itinerary and simply have a great time. And, remember you can pick a day during the Rally to ride shorter or go tackle a trout in the Rio Grand or whatever floats your boat. It is all good! Remember, we are on vacation!
