Tell me about the 454 LTD and 440 LTD

I got my Class M back in April and have been saving money and looking for my first bike. I am 46 and grew up drooling over UJMs in the late 70s and early 80s. I have always like the 440 and 454 LTDs. So I am always checking them out on craigslist. Help me to decide between the two.

The 454 looks like it has a crazy fork angle. How does it handle? I do not want a race bike but I do want something that is fun on twisty back roads.

I hear the 454 was quite quick. I hear it did low 13 sec quarter mile times. How does the 440 compare? Is it anywhere near the same ballpark?
