brought her home tonight...

well, it wasnt on the plan, but a friend from abroad needed ASAP a bike to tour europe on so simply sold him my CBR600F2 and was now out of a daily runner.

set up looking for a 90's Zephyr but this popped up, so brought her home :)

1980 Z750E as they are called here with just 12,000 miles... but quite a bit of surface corrosion.

Odd, no rust at all, just mostly oxidation of aluminum parts.

Great looking bike!!!

I had one back in 1980 to 1985. Love the color too!! Great handling too!!

I did the wheels up in Kal Guard Gold to match the pin stripping on the tank.

Its one of those bikes I wish I did not sell!!!

im old enough to still have Cycle mag road tests in my library but its only now that i've (re) learn how much they liked the kz750 over to the CB750, GS750 and Seca 750 back at the time.

even found one road test where it was called "a smarter KZ1000"

going to keep it quite stock but if i get bored in the winter got here some spare parts from my racer like GPZ cams and carbs :)

The carbs bolt right on.

I don't think the GPz cam had the gear cut into it for the E model tach drive. I can't remember what tach I went to when I put the GPz cams in... Junk that stock camchain tensioner too, if its a early 1980 model.

Put some good rear shocks on it, replace the front fork springs, and add a steering dampner and you got a super handling street bike. Its always fun to go around the outside of someone in a corner who is on a sportbike with an old situp and beg bike!!!!!

well, that's more or less the plan :)

very tempted to fit an 18" front too (and skip the steering damper ;) ), lets see, quite a lot to sort out in any case.

fitted a set of lower bars i had around (originals were a bit of a joke), rode her to work today... and sure quite a lot of stuff to sort out.... leaking fork seals, steering head bearings, cam chain tensioner (it's the old, bal lock type), but engine is super lively, doesnt smoke even one bit.

Havent rode +30 yrs old motorcycles on the road for a while as my classics have been in storage far away for ages, surely feels special after the recent VFR/CBR/GSXR's i been riding :) easy does it sums it up.

well, a set of refreshed 7610 konis on the back and 0.9kg/mm springs and 15wt oil in the front have transformed an wheeled armchair into something that handles quite sharply :)

got rid of the chicken strips on the tires today, i really like to keep them clean all around :)
