Motorcycle Archaeology
01 Oct 2011 18:01 - 01 Oct 2011 18:11
Well, today I made what might be my last visit to my local motorcycle junk yard. I would say it's about at least 5 acres of scrapped motorcycles of different makes and models. This was my 5th trip and every time I come home empty handed. But I still enjoy my walkabout. I look at the different makes and models and dream of the history behind them. I'm sure there are many here that have some form of place like I'm describing. But I thought since I can't post ride pictures yet I will post this instead. I spent my morning half running around to garage sales (missed a good deal on X-box) and the other half at the yard. The following may be of some archaeological interest.
Welcome to the SKHY-jungle:
The guy tells me this is a HD 350. I am including the tag. Can anybody verify.
It reads S2T-0....
Here's KZR favorite, a '79 750-B1
Unfortunately, the smallest selection for a make he has is Kawasaki. And doesn't have an big Kaw 4's. Only up to 650's.

If only these bike's could talk! Stories of previous owners, how the oil was seldon changed, over reved,& lugged. Only washed when it rained, never saw wax or any care to the paint, chain and sprockets seldom got service, and tires ran until cords showed through.

Mostly sad stories I am sure. Enough to make a grown man ball like a baby.

Might be kinda fun to walk around a 5 acre bone yard though.
