Should I Buy A New Concours?

I know its not a KZ but it is an inline four. And it is a Kawasaki. I found a 2008 Kawaski Concours14 with abs for $8000 and 12000 miles on it. I am keeping my KZ900 but I need a touring bike for distance and a passanger. What do you think. Should I add it to the stable? And do any of you have input on this machine?...Russ

Hi Russ,

While the Connie is the HP Queen, I remember something about the Hilda ST1300 beating it in roll on tests. It had to do with the oil pressure control on the cam timing causing the Connie to lag a bit. More importantly Ma Kaw didn't improve the heat management of the Connie till 2010.

There's one in my future!

The concours is a quick bike with all the bells and whistles. I would get one for sure for long distance riding. I know someone that bought the 1300 model older one. He is still riding it. He said he would never get rid of the bike just because of the comfort riding and performance of the bike. Good luck deciding.

Riding bud has one and that 1400cc displacement is surprisingly quick and cuts through the wind while we on naked builds (NON fairing) on the other hand were getting hammered... :pinch:

Had the last model year of the C10 "old Connie", a bit dated but fun as heck, very good two up sport touring machine. The new C14 seemed to be a decent machine and I almost bought one except the passenger is pretty much treated like any sport bike would, metal pegs, up in the air stream, postage stamp pillion seat, smallish panniers. If used one up then the rear seating becomes the much needed space for anything crossing more than one state border.

If it were just for me then I would get one as soon as I could but I think I'd only get the latest version as those first ones were human toasters and had numerous K-Pass issues.

Well I just picked it up. Runs great and very fast. Much quieter than my KZ with the Kerker. Totally different ride. It will look nice parked next to the other. Guess I will change my signature. Thanks all....Russ
