You dont need an ultrasonic unless you're starting up a business.

A good dip with a back massager taped to the drum works very well.

Then just be sure to blow through all the jets/orifaces.

If you are starting a business, well...

Anyone use this one? I will have a shop again soon, and I saw one, smallish, but not this brand, that a shop owner in Missouri had, and man, it was great! I just need to do one carb at a time- don't need a huge basket

I have one and I love it. You can not put solvent directly into it. You must have a tank within a tank. Water goes into the main and solvent into the inner.

What model you have? Do you have pictures of your set up?

I have a small Branson unit that will fit one carb body at at time like Otakar. Works well for my purposes. I mentioned it in a thread about a year ago: Click me to go Ultrasonic!

We recently got a slightly larger Branson 2510 at work. It's nice because it has a built in heater, and cycle timer so you can just set it and walk away. This unit is large enough to fit two carbs at a time.

One pointer is to make sure you get a basket that fits your tank, or suspend your parts some other way. You are not supposed to set parts on the bottom of the tank. Also, I don't know what's in Branson's cleaner chemical but it works well on cutting oil. I haven't tried a carb in there yet.

Mine also has a heater and a timer. I have done a lot of injectors in it along with some carb bodies. I use mostly the ZEP Citrus Cleaner as a solvent with a bit of Butyl Ether added. This makes the cleaning solution water miscible and removes the varnish off the carb bodies, also with most to all paint. I have cleaned a lot of model airplane engines in it and those get caked up with a tremendous amount of backed on varnish from the Castor oil we use as a lubricant.
