I have the sidecovers pinned on one of my bikes and it will be the only one. They are a pain to get off! Would hate to have to be in a hurry! The idea works at holding on a sidecover but use another way...

I'm curious as to whether anyone has ever had a side cover blow off when the original airbox was in place and the rubber grommets are in good shape? Maybe I've just been lucky, but in over 50k miles I've never lost a side cover even though I've run my bike up to WFO (close to 120 mph) numerous times. Does this generally only happen with the airbox removed and/or dried out grommets? Ed

i am drilling a tiny hole in my top leading post and all new grommets...then using one only, a tiny wire wrapped/twisted around whatever is nearby.....if the cover came free it would flap against my leg....

least that is how my 900 is...one secure tie off seems enough to prevent a road loss...

Whenever I race my bike, one of the things I do before making a pass is push the sidecovers in just to be sure they are tight. Guess what...I still loss one every now and then. I had pods on but the sidecovers were in the grommets tight. Sometimes air just gets under them and lifts them out of the grommets. Best to use some way to anchor them on better...wire them, modify the posts...weld them on...somehow!:)
