Cool Little Fact I Heard About.
08 Apr 2011 13:16
My boss does a lot of traveling to Japan (not lately). He says everywhere you look there's Kawasaki and no Honda or Suzuki, anywhere he's seen. He asked his contact there what the deal was. The guy says Kawasaki is the best and they ship the others out of the country, mainly the US. He says Kawasaki is Japan's Harley Davidson.

I don't know how accurate the information is
here
, but if it's true, Kawasaki manufactured the least number of it's own motorcycles for the Japanese and produced the least amount of motorcycles overall of the Big Four in 2010. Can't really tell from those numbers what Kawasaki's health was like before the economic downturn but Kawasaki was the only manufacturer to produce less motorcycles in 2010 than it did in 2009.

Kawasaki has always been the smallest of the current Japanese manufacturers even though the actual company size is huge. Will they continue to make bikes? I hope so. That said, I sure wish that they'd bring something more interesting than I've seen for a few years.

Would be nice to have a UJM bike like the Zephyr (if that counts) back on US soil.
That said, the new Ninja 1000 is promising as an all-around sport bike/street bike and I for one don't hate the Z1000. If someone offered either bike to me I'd jump on it. If I had the spare cash I'd probably buy one.
The one time I was in Japan I didn't see a single Kawi, lots of the other three.

I'm not willing to finance a new bike yet, but that Ninja 1000 has me thinking of turning my 04 ZX-10r into a street-fighter. Just think, endless wheelie potential!!!!
