Am I screwed?
12 Mar 2011 19:10
Quite a while ago I bought a frame off of ebay for a project that I wanted to piece together and I have run into a snag. The frame and the title are off by 1 digit. I didn't notice it for a while and I can't rememeber the seller, and really it would be an honest mistake, it took me a while to catch it.
Question is, if I take it to the dmv, and tell them the story, would I have a chance to get it fixed or am I screwed?

I have a trailer that is off by 9 digits, but it was not inspected and I still have tags on it. I would first make an anonymous call your local BMV/DMV and ask. If all else fails I know that in Ohio at least you could get a new title by having a Police Chief do a file check, (to make sure it not stolen) or have a Common Pleas Court Judge order a new title for you. Or you just might have to hire an attorney to get it done. You should be able to get it taken care of.

depends on the state as to the procedure, but its fixable, have em run an NCIC search to determine if its stolen and then follow ur states guidlines as to fixing it, this sort happens fairly often so dont stress it, as long as ur not in California or a couple of other states ur OK

I didn't spend much on the frame so I don't want to invest a whole lot more into it. I like the idea about the anonymous call, lol. I was just curious if anyone has had a similar experience.

Possibly not for this just happened to me on my RV during emissions testing....
The guy noted actual VIN and paper work did not match 100%, off by one digit.... He had it corrected on the spot so maybe you'll be ok as well....
I guess each state has their own rules and regulations...
Hope it works out for ya....
