Looking for a used slider clutch for a KZ900 drag bike engine.
What is the going price?
What can I expect?
Not in any hurry, I can wait!
Don't want to spend $$ on new one.
Any opinions?

Thanks.

Be careful when looking at one. Look at the hat to see what shape it's in. Sometimes a bolt, etc. gets loose and tears them up. Check to be sure the bolts that hold the hat on are in good shape. Seems to be a weak point with them. I'm no expert on them by any means but these are just some things I have read about or seen. You know any weak points or things in particular to look for Timebomb?

I've seen them for $500-750 -like Tim posted keep an eye on dragbike.com classifieds.Older sliders have 6 mm. studs and need to be updated to 8mm.- good way to identify them is the cover has an oil filler cap threaded into it as an inspection port. The 6mm. studs inevitably pull out or break.I broke 2 and as posted it did make a mess of the hat and some of the weights.

Take a good look at the inner basket and the inside of the slider basket for wear. Good idea to check the threads on the basket & the small allen bolts that secure the hat to the slider basket.Check the outside of the slider basket for wear marks- not everyone remembers to clearance the cases - if it wobbles enough to hit the cases you'll see the "machining"

I bought my slider very gently used and knew the bike and the shop it came from originally. If you buy a slider get the shim kit from MTC to set the air gap properly.
